I love teaching people how to sew. My default newbie sewing project is a basic banded skirt. But, you can only sew so many skirts and what about the boys that want to sew? These DIY reversible placemats are my new favorite newbie project because they give lots of straight line sewing practice and build on those first skirt skill with turning fabric right side out and top stitching.
